This class will explore marimba songs and arrangements from a global perspective. From a traditional African music perspective there is no written music. For those with a western music background, written notation for the songs will be available.
The class will focus on techniques for playing, cultural perspectives, structure of songs and Sheree Seretse (she/her), Ethnomusicologist and Cultural Educator has been facilitating and teaching classes and workshops over 40 years. Her participants range in age from 5 to adults. This music is infectious and ascertainable and lends itself to a diverse classroom ensemble, including xylophones, drums and voice.
